Legion of Honor

The Legion of Honor is a dedicated unit of Al Azhar Shriners. It is comprised of Nobles who have served or serving his country in the armed forces. Many armed forces from around the world are represented. Also included in this unit are current and retired first responders.  Nobles, who have and continue to commit to the well-being of their community.

The Legion of Honor contributes to numerous associations throughout Calgary with a focus on supporting Veterans – Colonel Belcher Foundations, Veterans Association Food Bank and Royal Canadian Legion. We also support the education, activities and Reviews of the cadets in our community. The Legion of Honor has also been recognized for its contributions to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Montreal.

The Legion of Honor’s distinguished jeep and trailer participate alongside Al Azhar units in parades throughout Southern Alberta. Upon request the jeep and trailer are displayed at numerous events.

The highlight of our year is always on November 11th. For many years the Legion of Honor has organized the Remembrance Day Ceremonies held at the Al Azhar Shrine Centre. Great pride is taken in setting up the venue, obtaining speakers and laying the wreaths that acknowledge the ultimate sacrifice given by the men and woman of the armed forces.
