Calgary Shriners

Patrol Unit

The Al Azhar Shrine Patrol Unit is a unit dedicated to having a little bit of fun as well as some work. The Patrol was the first unit formed in Al Azhar and originally consisted of various marching groups and a brass band. In order to modernize and become more attractive to potential candidates we now ride Segways, a two wheeled battery-operated vehicle.

The Shrine Patrol is dedicated to helping kids and we do this by holding various fund raisers such as our 300 Club Dinner, a casino, and several Stampede pancake breakfasts. Our unit also participates in local parades and hosts other fun events such as the Children’s Breakfast with Santa Christmas party, snow golf and a wine and cheese party.

We practice at the Shrine Center every Monday night, after which we enjoy some fellowship and socializing. Our wives and families are always included in our social events.
